When treating nail fungus infection we employ ozone to saturate the infected region with oxygen. This has been shown to be an effective method for treating infection and disease in numerous clinical trials. Ozone has very good anti–bacterial characteristics, and ozone oil is used for treating many different types of fungal infection. We also included Manuka oil in our treatment, which is a well-established anti-microbial agent. Following observations on the clinical efficacy of ozonised oil and its disinfectant properties, a clinical trial was recently conducted at the Policlinico "Pasteur", Cuba. A sample group of 100 nail fungus sufferers was chosen for the trial. The patients were split into two equal-sized groups of 50 in each. One test group was treated using conventional methods, while the other group, was given a topical ozonised oil. The results were as follows:
Of the patients treated with the ozonised oil, 96% made a recovery within 10 to 15 days.
From the group which received the conventional treatment, 20% of the sufferers recovered within 15 days.

According to Cooke and Cooke (1989), Manuka oil has been shown to be effective in laboratory tests against 39 separate micro-organisms. These include those organisms responsible for toenail fungus, nail fungus & tinea, and they include Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton rubrum.
